It all began with a Christmas gift: an LSU Football Championship black pot for each of Momma Sharon's six children. The following year, a tripod mysteriously appeared, completing the set. And thus, the legend of the Moran Family Black Pot Cook-off was born.
Fueled by fierce sibling rivalry and a shared love of good food, the annual cook-off has become a beloved tradition. With only three ironclad rules : a black pot, a wood-burning fire, and the trusty tripod -- the culinary creativity knows no bounds.
This gathering is a testament to the passion, laughter, and deliciousness that have emerged from these fiery competitions.Â
BCP 2009: AKA New Orleans BBQ Shrimp
Camera phones and just plain cameras just weren't present at the inaugural event in 2009, where David won with New Orleans BBQ Shrimp and the impromptu trophy made simply from a Miller Highlife was born.
BCP 2010: AKA Grits & Grillades
We didn't get much better on the following year in regards to cameras of any sort from what I can tell. If you attended this event and have pictures....do share!
The trohpy, however, did grow.
